It's also worth noting that the full Raw files on the 1D X Mark III vary greatly in size during this test, with the most under-exposed images weighing in at about half the size of the brighter ones. I had a look at raw test images before and thought the 1D IV about 1/2 stop better for noise than the original 7D. When cropped it loses advantage. The 7D II looks to be same performance as 70D, which is hardly better than the 7D, not even 1/3 stop. So expect the 7D II only to be a little better. If you later decide to upgrade from the MKIII to the MKIV they are identical 90% in menu / operation/same battery etc. If you are on a tight budget go for the IIN.
